Faces of Nepal

Looking at these portraits, I can't help but feel humbled by the warmth of their faces, their beautiful wrinkles and the long stories of life they can tell. I was surprised of the many welcoming smiles I encountered while roaming the streets in Pokhara and Kathmandu, the friendliness and genuine interest. In a country, where Maoist revolutions and monarchic upheaval dominated the daily politics and life until the early 2000's, where poverty and illiteracy is still abundant, it is all the more impressive to witness the strength and beauty of the Nepali people.

I just want to note that I asked every single person pictured here for permission to take his or her photo.
