Road Trip UK I: Bath

After weeks in a very uncomfortable bed in noisy London, I was very happy when my family came over for a little England road trip that involved sleeping in a comfy hotel bed in a peaceful little town :-)

Our first stop was the town of Bath, an ancient Roman settlement with little cobblestone streets, an impressive cathedral and the old Roman Baths that transfer you back to the days of Roman occupation with Minerva temples and other holy shrines.

Afternoon Tea in York

A beautiful little town up north all charming and welcoming with a wonderful tea house - Betty´s!
They even had South African tea from the mountains of KwaZulu Natal! And very delicious scones! I loved the cake trolley with all kinds of sweets, cakes and pies - how can one resist?

Thanks for the lovely afternoon, Olivia!

More of East End: Brick Lane Market on a Sunday

Always a must, always a favorite - have a curry or any other Asian, Persian or African take-away dish on Brick Lane´s enormous food market, they are all good! In case you are not stuffed enough after your curry, you can always indulge in the sweet on offer - cheesecake, cupcakes, brownies...all for your sweet tooth! Then a stroll around the antique stalls, a jug of Pimm´s in the sun and...in case you feel hungry at some point again....have a duck burger with goat cheese and truffel honey from a French food stall on Brick Lane! Never had such a good burger before, perfection!

More of East End: Hackney

While working 11-12 hour-days over here in Switzerland, I really miss the relaxed afternoon walks in London, with some good company, coffee, carrot cake and a glass of wine in the sun - pure bliss!
Especially, since we could have that against a different backdrop almost every day - London has so many different neighborhoods!
