In late October my friend and colleague Iris proposed to apply for a workshop on a new comprehensive platform in genomics developed by an Amsterdam research institute. It was a one-day workshop so we decided to spend the whole weekend in Amsterdam and make a little weekend getaway of it. It turned out it was a brilliant idea. We found an amazing AirBnB at the harbor which a big window front allowing for some boat watching over breakfast. We lucked out on the weather. Beautiful blue skies at the end of October, no rain and warm enough temperatures to enjoy the walks along the canals and have some coffee outside.
After some quite work-heavy weeks we treated ourselves to some good cake, coffee and food, along with some shopping, a photography exhibition and cocktails. I could not have wished for a better weekend.
